Hello,

    I am looking for any info on my ancestors,Johan Henrich TYMAN and his
wife Sophie Charlotte GRESSELMEYER. They were married 24 March 1779,Evangelisch
Gehlenbeck. GRESSELMEYER does not seem to be a common name. I have seen many
names in my family tree like this with another word in front of MEYER,what
is the meaning of MEYER? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cindi,
A Meyer is a tenant and have to do a yearly payment or in terms for the
ground, the hire. A Nobleman get the ground as a feudal estate. There is a
way to remember it, a meyer mows the field and a noble does not.
