TWENHFEL Family of Quakenbrck

Joel: If you have access to the LDS Morman Church Family History Centers, try to order the microfilms of genealogical cards assembled by Hermann Walter Pohlsander. Mr. Pohlsander apparently went through the church books of the area of Quakenbrck and surrounding villages and compiled cards for each family. The Twenhofel name is not one of my lines, but several of my lines came from the Quakenbrck and Bramsche areas when they came to central Illinois. I have had a some luck locating ancestors on these family cards. The LDS film number for family names beginning with "T" are 1043870, 1043871, and 1043832. Go to the following links for more info:

My ancestral lines include Mohlmann, Brorman, Horstmann, Larberg.

Hope this helps,

Robin,

Thank you for the suggestion. I've looked at those films before, as well as the microfilmed Church Records of Quakenbrück and Bramsche.

What families of yours came from that area and settled in central Illinois? I have some other lines from that area.

Joel

Dear Joel,

This is off-subject reply.

Noticed Missouri State Archives has a death certificate viewable online for a George A Twenhoefel born 4/14/1864 in CINCINATTI, OHIO. Died 1/28/1952 at Sullivan, Franklin, Missouri....but the death certificate lists his usual residence as 3017 KEMP, St. Louis, Missouri.

Anyhow...

My mom lived on KEMP until she got married in the late 1950's. Mom was the eldest of eight children and she or her siblings just may have known this Twenhoefel family.

I could ask mom if might be of interest to you.

Dear Joel,

3018 KEMP DR. Perhaps was address of George F. Twenhoefel [son??] who the informant on the death certificate.

Hello Joel,

there is a book about Epe (part of Bramsche today) written by Heinrich
Gosmann.
It's called:
Epe - Chronik einer Landgemeinde
Bramsche, Germany
Rasch Verlag 1994

Heinrich Gosmann has done extensive research on the Epe farms and families.
I once borrowed the book from our library and remember the name TWENHAEFEL
(AE = A Umlaut) (not TWENHOEFEL) (OE = O Umlaut) mentioned a few times.
There is a shop in Bramsche today called TWENHAEFEL. The family originally
came from Quakenbrueck, if I remember correctly.

Maybe someone else on the list has got the book at home and could do a
lookup for you.

Good luck,
kind regards
Renate Dry

If anyone does have this book, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could look up Hermann Heinrich Mohrmann (colonnade Borchelt), married to a Miss Krelage before 1827. All of their children were given the family name of Borchelt. I would like the ancestral of Hermann Heinrich and his wife Miss Krelage (Anna Maria?). I believe some information is found in the Bramsche evangelical records, but the specific years I need are not available on microfilm.

Thanks,
Robin Sjoerdsma
