Trying to locate a village

I would like to thank all of you who answered my inquiry about Nemonien !!!!
and specially Hans-Christoph and Lutz.Szemkus
I realize the spelling was wrong, as all the rest fits- I remember my father mentioning Lauknen, and I have
heard about Ragnit too.
Does anybody knows if there is any archive or anything else- where I could inquire about any documentation ??

My father and g.father lived in Laugszargen and in Sterpeiken- which - I guess are in the same circle ??

about what Fred Rump wrote- We left the place when I was a very little child, and have no one to ask how
the correct spelling of the place is....Now- I can assure you that I will know !!
you mention that I can check to see what the LDS has on this area.
Also check Großen Friedrichsgraben.
- as I am new in the "business" could you - please- advise me how I can check the LDS and the Großen Friedrichsgraben ???

So- many thanks again to all of you for the quick answers,

The LDS hold 5 rolls of film taken of the records of the Alt-
Lutheraner parsh of Tilsit. These are the old Lutherans who stuck
to their particular religion against the union with the Calvinists or
Evangelicals which the Prussian king had ordered.

These films were taken in 1936 by the Nazis and are stored at the
Sächsische Staatswarchiv, genealogical division in Leipzig.
Nemonien must have had its own set of old Lutherans. The records
also only go from 1848-1907.

Otherwise there is nothing listed for this village with the LDS.

Fred

PS Elchwerder is also cross-refererenced with this place.
Gr. Friedrichsgraben is also null. Had these films not been taken
there would probably been nothing there at all. The Russians were
pretty thorough in their destruction of everything.

Whishing you much success,

Hallo Rina,

Laugszargen and Sterpeiken are not in the same circle. They are situated in the
"Memelland"(I dont know how to translate. But it is a pretty way away from
Nemonien, north-east of Tilsit.) Laugszargen: church Wilkischken-Laugszargen and
Sterpeiken: church of Piktupoenen .

Regards
Gaby
