I was born in Nimonin- Ost preussen, in 1931- as Renate Lauterstein.

can anyone tell me where it is , and how is it called today ??? and does anybody know if there is any archive where one can
search for any documentation ??

this is probably what you are looking for:
Nemonien, district of Labiau
It was renamed Elchwerder in 1938
Old Lutheran Church records are in the Leipzig Staatsarchiv (and probably
filmed the Mormons)
from 1848 to 1874
before that time Nemonien seems to have belonged to the parish of Gilge
(district of Labiau)
There are records for the Gilge parish in Leipzig and probably with the
Mormons from 1731 to 1829.
Here is an entry about Nemonien from the TOPOGRAPHIE DES K?NIGREICHS
PREUSSEN, 1785, by Goldbeck:
K?nigliches Fischerdorf am kurischen Hafe, C?lmische Bauerg?ter und Kr?ge,
Sitz des Forstamtes, Windm?hle, 64 Feuerstellen, Landr?tlicher Kreis Tapiau,
Justizkreis Tapiau, Hauptamts oder Dom?nenamtsbezirk Labiau. eingepfarrt zur
Kirche in Gilge;
Patron der Kirche, Gerichtsobrigkeit, Gutsbesitzer oder zu welchem Gute
geh?rig:
der K?nig.

Hallo,
may be that I can help you: there is a location " NEMONIEN, which was a
small location near LAUKNEN and a part of the LAUKNEN parish within the
diocese of LABIAU. In this location there was an own school.
There was also a small estate called NEMONJE near and part of the parish of
GRO� LENKENINKEN in the diocese of RAGNIT.
Does anything fit?

What a difference a few letters make. I would think that one knows
how to spell his birthplace though.
