Trying to find Helena BRANDT

I am seeking information about my great great grandmother, Helena BRANDT,
supposedly born on 8 September, 1848, in Oldenburg. I do not know if that
means the city or the state. Her father was alleged to be Johan BRAND, but
no data about him is known. Her mother is unknown. Whether she had
siblings is also unknown.

She same to America in May, 1872, on the ship “Leipzig” from Bremen to
Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Her name in 1872 was Lena BRAND. She married in
1874 in Evansville, Indiana, USA under the name Magdalena BRANDT. Her
first husband, John Dierks, died in 1877. She married her second husband,
John Henry BUSMANN in 1880, under the name Lena. From that point to her
death in 1925, she used the name Helena. She practiced the Roman Catholic
religion in America.

Any information or advice for locating her family or place of birth will be
greatly appreciated.

James Anslinger

Dear Mr. Anslinger,

in my database of the parish of the village Goldenstedt, situated in the southern part of the dukedome of Oldenburg there is a Anna Helene Brandt, born on 24 September 1846 and baptized on 7 October 1846. Her father was Johann Diedrich Brand and her mother was Catharine Elisabeth with the maiden name Ruthop. The parents of Anna Helene had married on 19 January 1843.
Because these data don't fit exactly with the ones you have I'm not sure whether my person is your great great grandmother or not. So it is your problem to decide. May be you will get more and better informations concercing your great great grandmother from anthoer part of Oldenburg.

I hope I could help you a little.
Sincerely yours

Gerd Hoffmann
