Translation help, please!

Hello everyone!
I finally got my hands on a copy of "1100 Jahre Schale" (on loan from
Harvard University), & have wept a few happy tears over it (but not on it!!).
I descended on the AltaVista translation site, & it's been a big help, but
there are some words it just won't translate!
One list of names is the Mhlenregister (mill register?) from 1755.
There are many names I recognize. With each name is the number of people in
the family. Also with almost every name is a term - "dem Knig eigen",
"frey", "abtfrey", "kammerfrey", & one entry shown as "gutsherrlich eigen".
AltaVista translates "dem Knig eigen" as "the king owns". I take that
to mean that the person listed was a tennant on property owned by the crown.
Is this correct?
There is absolutely no translation for "frey", "abtfrey", or
"kammerfrey". And I forgot to try "gutsherrlich eigen" before I wrote this!
Could anyone tell me what these terms mean? Also, is the translation of "mill
register" correct, & if so, what in the world IS a mill register???
I'm trying my best to puzzle this out by myself, but I need help on this
one! (The book is mine only until May 22.)
     Thanks in advance,
          Gloria
