I found this on a Netherland web site. It pertains to a person being a carpenter(Timmerman)
Soo't aardse Huis tot nut kan strecken,
Om ons voor ongeval te decken,
  Gelyk het seer beminlyck doed;
Wat hoord men dan met vlijt te bouwen,
Daar't leeven Ewig huis Sal houwen,
  Wanneer't van hier verhuisen moet.

Could someone please translate into English. I don't have the umluets over the y as they should be. Thank you in advance! DB

It is written in very old dutch and not so easy to translate in modern english! It says something as:

So it can be usefull for the home on earth,
To secure us for accidents,
As it is lovely,
it should be built with dilligence,
as it contains life to eternity,
if it has to move from here.
