Hello Rita,

a town name like this does not exist in Germany. Its sound and spelling are absolutely un-german too.

Wilfried Petersen
(Germany)

Hi List; Rita, Wilfried ...

It is seldom I have another opinion than Wilfried Petersen, but because of having been living in Münster for several years, there is an idea of an possible place.

So generally rigth is: the place name is not given, except perhaps by a similarity in sounding in HAVIXBECK nearby Münster i.Westfalia, where also another name as HAVIGHORSTER MÜHLE is given, which names are probably of the same root stem. Nearby Bad Oldesloe north-east of Hamburg again a HAVIGHORST can be found. The change from "F" to "V" is not to uncom-mon, about "L" and "B" there is often confusion in case of reading elderly handwritings and also "X" has a similar sounding to "CKS". So if all possible errors were made together, a HAVIXBECK(s) son or daughter maybe the right one on the ship list.

Greetings Hans Peter Albers, Bienenbüttel

Hi List, Rita, Hans Peter ...,

Hans Peter is right: The town name may really mean: HAVIXBECK.

(Für Hans Peter: Da hätte ich alter Esel bei etwas längerem Nachdenken auch drauf kommen können, zumal der Name sogar im Ortsverzeichnis meiner Ahnenliste vorkommt!)
