Town location

Hi Sandi: Rheinhessen was a small piece of Hessen that lay west of the Rhine
River. It includes the city of Worms. Pfalz, actually Rheinpfalz, to
distinguish it from Oberpfalz in eastern Bavaria, was given to the Kingdom of
Bavaria after the defeat of Napolean in 1815. The LDS Family History Library
Catalog lists Pfalz with Bavaria for convenience and because of its
occasional political associations with Bavaria.
Speyer is in Rheinpfalz, not Rheinhessen.

Do you have ancestors from Speyer? My Lohr and Schüßler families are from
Speyer.

Hi John
I was trying to help a lady find the town of Scheichen district of Spier
and Canton Berzaber. I really think this is Schweigen district of Speyer
and Canton Berzaber. Her family ae the Weyrauch (Weirauch Wyrough varient
spellings) She is looking for John Weyrough born abt 1785 in that town. He
was Catholic. The LDS has filmed the EV records for Schweigen but not the
Catholic. Wonder where she would look for Catholic records.
