Thank you Erika for your efforts. The entries are not completly
alphabetically listed but that page was only surnames starting with
B. The numbers do not seem to be consectutive and I wondered if maybe
the entries represented a household. I relooked att a roll of film,
Hildesheim Census and found a Ferdinand Burgdorf and a couple of
Burchtorfs. I plan to return to the Library and make copies of those
entries. Wish me luck.

Max,
Sorry to send this by the list, but all my mails are rejected from
your
server and always return to me undeliverable.
I received your mail and attachment ok.
I am sorry, but I also have no clue what kind of list this might be
- though
come to think of it, it could be an index of a book.
Since it is very hard to read, I cannot decide if the numbers really
are
listed sequenttially. Some names are listed alphabettally, but there
is a
Phillip Bauer next to your Burgdorf , they are not really in line.
I admire that you are not giving up - happy further hunting,
Erika
