I am researching the history of the Kooistra family. I find out that my
great great grandfather moved from the Dutch city of Groningen to Emden
Germany.
He, his wife and two children moved to Emden on 23-08-1886.
His name is Anne Jans Kooistra, the name of his wife is Grietje Annes
Visser, the names of the children are, Harmen Annes and Anne Kooistra.
Is there a way to find out what happened to these people after they arrived
in Emden? Did they stayed in Emden?
First: if you are not familiar with the location of the two towns, look
at google maps. Groningen is in the Netherlands and Emden is on the
other side of a bay about 63-64 miles away. Don't let the changes in
geo-political boundarys and names confuse you.
There are about 17 different sourced listed here, but many are before
the date you mentioned. If you have a Family History Center close, you
may be able to review some of these materials.
