Thunhorst

Hello Jill,
Thank you for responding to my query. My wife is the relation to the
Thunhorst family. Her Great Great Grandfather Friedrich Wilhelm Thunhorst was the
brother to the Henry that you have in your website. They did live together
for a short time when they came to Cleveland. I believe that my wife found out
that Clamor married Marie Lindemann. The German Village information in your
website connects my ancestors Ernst Heinrich Sielehr (from Barkhausen) and
Caroline Florentine Thies (from Hustadte) to the same area. They came to
Cleveland in the early 1870's. Ernst was married to Maria Eleonore Fricke in Rabben
and he came to America with her in 1871. She was born in Rabben 3-5-1850 (or
possibly in the year 1830. The handwritten entry in the Zion Church book could
be taken either way.) You have a Fricke in your site. Maria Eleonore died
childless 8-8-1874. I fell that Maria Eleonore had at least one brother in
Cleveland because Ernst was a Godparent of a child born to a Fricke. Ernst
married my Great Great Grandmother Caroline "Lena" Thies in November of 1874. My
ancestors, my wife's and some of the people in your tree came from the same
villages. I find it interesting how many of the Cleveland Germans were connected
by their faith and church. We found my family in the church records while we
were researching my wife's.
Have you checked out the Historical Marriage index for Cuyahoga County and
the Cleveland Necrology Files? They are both available online and are a very
useful (FREE) resource.
