In the Essen, Germany area, it was common to name all of the sons a name
like Johan, the second and third name would come from the godparent and the child
would go by the second and third name. I have a Jobst Friederich Thunhorst
married to Marie Christina Fülling, they had 6 kids, one being Johan Friedrich
Wilhelm Thunhorst born 1819. My Fuellings went to Trintiy Lutheran Church in
Cleveland,Ohio, where many Thunhorst children were confirmed(Rootsweb) My
Great great grandfather Johan Christopher Fülling born 1832 in Harpenfeld, had a
sister, Marie who married Johan Christopher Heinrich Thunhorst. After Johan
Christopher Fülling came to Cleveland, Ohio, his children were baptized at
Trinity Lutheran where a there were a few Thunhorst as godparents for his
childdren, he had 14 children.
Have a Nice Day! Jill
