The Settlement from Graf Walbert to endow Wildeshausen church & abbey 17Oct 872 (Paul Winner via Oldenburg-L)

Paul Winner,
Found the early history that you posted very interesting.
In the Saxon settlements I see the family names of people who settled with my ancestors in the area around Minster, Oh. Names such as Brandewie, Severin, Westendorf and Winner. Not sure where you are from, but the Winner family is well represented in West Central, Oh. Especially, Winner's Meats of Osgood, Oh.
Thanks,
Ted B Wendeln

Ted,

I am familiar with the Ohio Winners. We are related through a brother (some
say an illegitimate child) of the progenitor of the Maryland Winners. If
you aren't familiar with Mike Meyers send me an email and I will put you in
touch with him. He is my go-to for Ohio Winners. He has been to visit the
Winner hof, which is still owned and occupied by a Winner. One of the
Maryland Winners went and found the same information. The Winners that
settled in Pennsylvania originate in England. My personal theory is that A
Winner left Oldenburg during a mass migration due to a conflict (the name
of which I have in a file, but don't remember off the top of my head). They
would have settled in Holland, which is where many of the Germans who fled
ended up. From there they made their way to England at some point. I can't
prove any of that. When I talk to Pennsylvania Winners they have no
information about a Holland, or German connection,

Paul
