The library of Cincinnati has on microfilm copies of these four germany
Cincinnati Papers
Cincinnati Zeitung 1887-1901
Cincinnati Volksfreund
Cincinnati Volksblatt
Cincinnati Freiee Presse
They begin about 1840 and go to about 1920. I have no idea if they still
have the original copies but I look at the microfilm all the time.

Is it possible for you to please share the microfilm numbers for these German
newspapers. It would be much appreciated. Thank you

Thank you for the list. I think Cincinnati is very lucky to have had
someone preserve their German-American newspapers. There were several
different papers published in Memphis - according to Dr. Arndt's list, and
they are missing. No TN library has them. This is sad!

By the way, is there any list about those newspapers and are there any others preserved. I am
thinking of the Southern States, Natchez in detail.
Are there any books about the language situation of immigrants? Did they keep their German and
how long? Where there German schools? Did they form groups?
Those things probably differed a lot but there might be investigations anyway.
Wondering
