I was interested in the given name of Jobst rather than the surname of
Jobst. I have someone in my "tree" who married a person by the name of Jobst
Behning / Baehning.

Don,
are you sure about the spelling of the last name? If not, it could also be Boehning (written with o Umlaut in German) , since that is a fairly common name.
