Thank you all

Hallo
all our freinds in this [HN] hannover-list.
There are only very few hours up to the end of this year 2001.
The next one will start in most of eurupe with courius new money "EURO".
All our old german-Mark will be worthles. A funny feeling.
Ill looking forward with great hope.
If our freinds in America will ask:
"Who much Ive to pay in order to get the information
about my ancestors in germany?"
Next year wll answer:
"Oh, not 20 DeutschMark - but only 10 EURO!"

That is fine, isnt it? Yes it is!!

So Ill like to say:
Thank you all for your help and freindship!
All the germans wish you a happy new year
and peace for all people all over the world
wherever they might live,
as we had in the last 56 years in germany.

I read a post about Germany using the new money, EURO. This is probably a
dumb question, but, I would like to know about the German postage. When my
dau. visited Germany last summer I had her purchase for me some German
stamps that I could send with my letters to some German individuals for them
to use in a reply to me to the US, so they wouldn't be out money for
postage. Did the new EURO money affect the German postage? Thanks.

Yes, the stamps are also effected as everything were a price is printed on.
We can pay till the end of February with Deutsche Mark - so also the 'old'
stamps will be accepted to for a while. The course for Germany is quite
simple it is near 2 => 1 Euro are about 2 DM.

To complete the statement of Sven:
The transition period for the stamps is till 30th of June 2002, so you can use
until this time the old stamps.

Sven & Dietmar, Thanks for the help on the German postage. I will try to
get my letters typed & translated into German as soon as I can so the
individuals I send to, can use the stamps I supply them with for a return
reply to me. Sincerely, Geraldine

Hello Geraldine,

the German Deutsch Mark has to be changed until the end of February, but
with stamps it is a little bit different. I asked that question today at the
post office and I was told that the stamps will be accepted till 30.06.2002.
So you don't need to hurry!!

Greetings,

Inga from Germany
