Very interested in the following surnames: DECKER, DEERMAN, LOMANN,
OTTERMANN, PETERS, RIPPE, SIMON, WEHRENBERG
And these locations: the German villages of EITZENDORF, MARTFELD,
WECHOLD/WECHOLT, each said to be near the town of HOYA, in the Province
of HANNOVER.
If you share interest in, or know anything about, the above surnames in
the periods and locales listed below, I would very much like to hear
from you.
Hermann/Hermen RIPPE, son of Cordt RIPPE, was born about 1668 prior to
the 1670 start of record keeping in the Evangelische Kirche Eitzendorf.
On 29 Nov 1694, Hermann married Anna DEERMANN, daughter of Hinrich
DEERMANN; Anna was born 18 Jan 1670 in Eitzendorf. They had the
following children, all christened in Eitzendorf: Gesche (christened
1695), Cord (1697), Woebke Margarethe (1699), Johann Ratje (1701), Anna
Rosina (1704), Maria Lisabeth (1707), Sophia Gesche Elisabeth (1709),
Anna Dorothea (1712), Wilcke Albert (1715), Hermann Friedrich (1717) and
Christian Ludewig (1721).
Christian Ludewig RIPPE (as noted above, born 25 Jul 1721, used the name
"Christian") married Meimerich DECKER in the village of Martfeld. One
child named Johann Friedrich was born to this union on 22 Feb 1750 in
Martfeld and was christened in Eitzendorf.
Johann Friedrich RIPPE, see birth above, married Anna Adelheid LOMANN in
location undetermined but not in Martfeld. Johann Friedrich died 1 Apr
1801 and was buried in Martfeld. Johann and Anna had these children,
all christened in Martfeld: Johann Christian (1774), Anna Rosine
(1777), Meinerich (female, 1780) and Johann Friedrich (1783).
Johann Friedrich RIPPE (see above; born 4 Oct 1783, he used the name
"Friedrich") married Anna Maria Margarethe WEHRENBERG, daughter of
Albert Hinrich WEHRENBERG, on 7 Oct 1803 in Alt Wechold. Friedrich and
Anna had the following children, all christened in the village of
Wecholt, earldom of Hoya, Hannover, Germany: Johann Albert Christian
(born 1804), Jobst Heinrich (1806), Albert Friedrich (1808-1809).
Johann Albert Christian RIPPE (see above, born 31 Jan 1804, he used the
name ''Albert') married Catharina Margarethe OTTERMAN who was born about
1799 in Wechold and died in Wechold in 1845. Albert and Catharina had
the following children christened in Wecholt: Catharine Marie Elisabeth
(born 1825), Catharina Margarethe Louise Dorothea Marie (1829), Dietrick
Heinrich (1834) and twin girls Catharina Dorothea and Catharina
Margaretha (born 1838).
At some point after Catharina's 1845 death and before the 1850 U. S.
Census, taken 2 Nov 1850, Albert RIPPE immigrated to the U.S. and, in
the 1850 Census, was employed as a gardner on the Brazoria County, Texas
plantation of John ADRIANCE. Listed with him in the ADRIANCE household
were the following RIPPE's: Docia age 14, Prudence age 9, and Christian
age 17, kinship not yet determined.
From 1850 through 1880, Albert RIPPE lived in Brazoria County. In the
1880 Census, Albert, age 76 and wife Dora, age 67, were living in the
home of Gregory SIMON, an 1844 immigrant from Alsace Lorraine and his
wife the former Trenetta PETERS, an 1845 immigrant from Hannover. The
Census identified Albert and Dorah, unaccountably as of now, as the
SIMON's "father" and
"mother".
