Surname GREIM

Hello List,
This is my first posting to this list. I found a zipcode distribution list
for the name GREIM and it points to Oberfranken as having the greatest amount of
this surname with 56% in 1900. I have been trying to find my great great
grandfather for about 5 years. This is what information I have on him. If
anyone on the list can help
me I would be very greatful.
JOHANN G.GREIM
MUSICIAN
DATE OF BIRTH: 1/26/1820
Johann and Phillip Greim emigrated to the US on April 27, 1847. They arrived at
NY Ellis Island on the ship Yssel from the Port of Rotterdam, Holland. Johann
went to Philadelphia and I cannot find where Phillip went to. John was 28 years
old and Phillip was 31. They were both listed as musicians, being from Hessia.
John taught music and played in orchestra throughout his life.
FATHER: FRED (Friedrich)
NATURALIZATION: Dec. of Int. August 18, 1852 Philadelphia, PA, From King of
Bavaria
MEMBER of: Germania Orchestra, later the Philadelphia Orchestra
Mozart Lodge No 436 F and AM, Philadelphia Musical Association.
Children: Lisette, Johnanna, Laura, HENRY F, Corinne, and Anna.
SON: HENRY F GREIM was a violinist and mason as well.
I have found no church records, but most probably it was Protestant or Lutherin
in Germany. I have found many American records including census of 1850, 60, 70
80, and 1900.
One census record lists only Bavaria as homeland.
I have the marrige record of two of the girls which took place in a court house,
not a church.
I have cemetary records, but all in unmarked graves.
The name had a von before it when in Germany at one point.
Has anyone heard of this musical family?
Thank you, Lyn from Texas, USA
