Hello List Friends
It has been a while since I last posted but I have not yet reached my goal. I have made some progress put not enough. Here is my current status.
I found data on the Hamburg emigration list that supports info I already have but more importantly I found the place of Julius Wilhelm (JW) Burgdorf's origin - Baddeckenstedt. I have been working with a wonderful lady, Erika Giftge who lives in the area and has been graciously doing some research for me. Unfortunately we have not yet struck the mother lode.
(Aside to Erika: Only today did I postal mail the information we talked about. I have been ill with the flu but I seem to be getting better)
Because of the success I have had in finding my mother's ancestors in Dahn Germany and the expectations of successs in the Baddeckensted area, my daughter and I are planning to travel to Germany 1 May, starting in the north and heading south to Dahn and visiting Paris before heading home.
The area around Hannover and Hildesheim seems to be loaded with Burgdorfs but none are JW or Julius. If anyone out there has any suggestions that may help please pass it along.
My Julius was born about 1825 in the area previously mentioned, emigrated thru Hamburg to New Orleans in 1859. Any help?
Max
Hi Max:
I feel like a Troll in saying this, but if you drop the "g" from Burgdorf, you also find a load of Burdorf's in the same area.

Dear Max,
If only I could find a miracle. If only I had a clue.
Don't forget to search Burchtorf...just a guess...but spelling in some old New Orleans records.
I have staatarchiv.nediersaschean.. detail for Baddeckenstent. I did not find Burgdorf.
