Hi Annette,
the online findbook of the Staatsarchiv has this entry (http://aidaonline.niedersachsen.de/ )

Archiv: Staatsarchiv Oldenburg
Signatur: Nr. 1430
Lagerungsbestand: Best. 111-1
Laufzeit: 1806

Die Abtretung der Erbrechte an der hofhrigen Suing-Stelle in Astrup im Kirchspiel Visbek durch Margarethe Elisabeth Suing, Ehefrau des Zellers Johann Bernd Thole in Astrup, und Marie Gertrud Suing, Ehefrau des Zellers Johann Henrich Habe in Calveslage, an ihre Halbschwester Maria Catharine Suing, Ehefrau des Johann Friedrich Habe in Calveslage

This sentence means:

In 1806 Margarethe Elisabeth Suing, wife of Johann Bernd Thole in Astrup and Marie Gertrud Suing, wife of Johann Henrich Habe in Calveslage transfered the right of succession of the Suing farm in Astrup parish Visbek to her half-sister Maria Catharine Suing, wife of Johann Friedrich Habe in Calveslage.

Andrea Korbanka

Hello,

I have found my ancestors name in some online findbooks: civilregister, outmigrants and churchbooks.

Does this mean that his name is in one of these civil registration/outmigrants/churchbooks in the archives mentioned at that site??

Thanks for answering
Reina

Hello Reina!

aidaonline is the online findbook of the Staatsarchive in Niedersachen. If you find an entry, you can look up the details by clicking on an entry. There is the Staatsarchiv which ownes the documents (for instance Oldenburg, Aurich, Hannover and so on). You can look at the document in this Staatsarchiv. There are only headlines in the online findbook. But sometimes the informations helps nevertheless.

Thanks Andrea. I first did not understand how it worked

Thank you !

Please, could I ask you some questions?

I was wondering about the last names... why does the wife have a different last name than the husband? Did they keep their own? Who's name did the children get?

Also, I may travel to Germany this December, but I'll only have a day to spend in Oldenburg area... what places are the best to find information on these Suings? The Staatsarchiv Oldenburg? How about the archive of the Bischflich Mnstersches Offizialat in Vechta?

Annette

Can you explain further about Bauerschaft (farm groups)?

Hello Annette!
Your Suings are Catholic. The church records of Visbek you find at: Bischflich Mnstersches Offizialat, Bahnhofstr. 6, 49377 Vechta.

The Suing women normally have the name of her husbands. The text of the document from the Staatsarchiv used their maiden names. I do not know why. Perhaps to make clear the relationsship to her half-sister.

Greetings, Andrea
