Hi,
I'm looking for a German sugarbaker in London, too. His name was Louis
Meyer, born 1837 in Remsede, county of Osnabrck, Kingdom of Hanover. He
wrote several letters to his parents. In 1857, he was in Hamburg, then he
worked in Amsterdam and his last letter, written in 1860 was from Woolwicks,
London. It's said that he later emigrated to the USA but that's not sure.
Two brothers of him lived in the States in 1860. They, too, wrote several
letters but they never mention their brother Louis.
Louis Meyer's last letter from 1860 mentions a "Deutsches Wirtshaus" (German
pub) where the German Sugarbakers came together.
I know that the name Louis Meyer doesn't make it easy to find his track but
I found his brothers in the Unites States so I'll go on searching for him.
Any help will be appreciated.
