Hallo in die Runden,
ich bekam vor einigen Tagen diese Anfrage aus den USA.
Wer hat Hinweise zu Bill´s Frage?
Evtl. Antworten bitte an mich oder direkt.
Schöne Grüsse,
Hans Werner (Selken)
Herr Selken:
I have recently determined from birth records in America that my maternal great-grandfather was from Wedel. The records indicate that he was born in either 1849 or 1850 (from his age given at the birth of two children.) It is not certain which of his given names are first, but it appears that it is likely his name was Gustave Fredrick Suden. I am not certain of the spelling, as names were modified in use in America. Stories in the family indicate that he was a political cartoonist or artist, and was not well accepted at the time; hence, his departure to America. It is also rumored that he made approximatel seven trips to America before staying (approximately 1912, although there are listings of a Fred Suden in both the 1870 US and 1910 Texas censuses.) He married in Jefferson City, Missouri and moved to San Antonio, Texas. I am trying to establish dates for all of this.
He married Helena (or Helene) Marie Tillman (or Tellemann) who was born in Missouri in approximately 1864. It is reported that her father was a sea captain on a whaler out of Hamburg, and had been lost at sea. I have no other information.
I am wondering if you can shed any light on these two individuals from your research.
Thank you in advance for any information that you might be able to supply.
