STREUSSEL KUCHEN (Cinnamon Cake)

Streussel Kuchen

3/4 cup butter (or margarine, or lard and margarine mixed)
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 to 1 cup milk added alternately with the flour( Batter has to be
fairly stiff or topping will sink into cake)
Mix and put in 9" square pan

Topping
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/4 or 1/2 tsp cinnamon (according to your like of cinnamon)
mix into crumbs and sprinkle on cake batter

Bake 30 min at 350F

If you like raisins, you can add 1 cup or any part of a cup of raisins
to the batter before you put it in the pan.

The same base recipe also works for APFEL KUCHEN
Mix the batter and put into pan
Peel and core apples and cut in 1/8ths and
place in rows on top of batter. (Again, batter has to be fairly stiff
to
support the apples)(It tastes fine if the apples sink, don't worry)
Take 1/2 cup wh sugar, mix in 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/8 tsp cloves
and sprinkle over the apples. Dot with butter or margarine
(I dot with quite a few dots, you will have to experiment)
Bake at 350F for 30 min or until done.

Enjoy!
