Hello list,
Does anyone have the URL of a good map site showing Mecklenburg? I am
interested in the Alt Panstorf area where I am researching the family of my
Gr-grandfather, (Johann?) Frederich Theodor Zarnt (Zarndt). He was born
there Sept. 10, 1837. Would anyone know where records for that area would be
found?
Thank you in advance, Jo Westendorf Banks

Hello Jo--The parish for Alt Panstorf is Remplin. You will find these
microfilmed and in your nearest local LDS (Mormon) Family History Library.
The records start in1661 and go to 1934. Have the person at the library
that helps you go to the Fiche or Computer Catalog and go to Germany, then
Mecklenburg-Schwerin, then Remplin. You will see Alt Panstorf is included
in this parish. Good Luck! Eleanor ewollen1@home.com
Dear Jo, The historic maps often do not show the smaller villages. For the
most detailed maps go to www.mapquest.com
Choose Maps, country: Germany, city: (your choice), then "Get Map."
Your village will be near the red star. If the village name does not show,
then click on the "Big Map" and "Zoom In" features until the name of your
village displays on the map. When you get the map size you desire, you can
click on "print map" and get a copy.
