Hello,
I found my 2nd great grandfather Frederick Sterzer, his wife Christina and their children in New York in the 1870 Census. The Census states that Frederick, Christina and two of their children, William and Willamina, were born in Mecklenburg. They came to the US between 1862 and 1864.
I can't find anything before that. Has anyone heard of the name Sterzer? Can anyone give me any idea of how to find out where in Mecklenburg they came from?
