Dear Cornelia,
I obtained the information about the marriage of my great grandparents,
Ignacy and Marianna (nee Pocwiardowska) Zabinski from Roman Catholic
Church documents from St. Catherine the Virgin Church in Golub-Dobzryn.
Pocwiardowski is a surname derived from the town Pocwiardowo, which is
very near Sokoligora. It is an uncommon surname and there is a cluster of
people with this name in the Swiecie area.
I do not know whether Sokolowski requires the use of any diacritical
marks, but I searched for the distribution of the surname (without
diacritical marks) in modern Poland at this site (
Bezpłatne drzewo rodowe, genealogia, historia rodziny i testy DNA). It too appears to
be uncommon, but there are some people with that surname living in the
Swiecie area. The map shows other small clusters as well and their
location may be of interest to you. By the way, the moikrewni site is a
Polish site and you need to use diacritical marks to get accurate results.
Denise
the sources are original church certificates from the 40's. They are
trustworthy, I think. The family was staunchly Lutheran (evangelisch, in
German)
The name seems to be fitting, but the area is not. The Maria Sokolowski I
have in my documents was from the region of Ortelsburg, East Prussia, but
Golub was in West Prussia. It seems improbable, (but not impossible) that
a
family would have moved so far to the quite poor region of this particular
village (Klein Jerutten) from West Prussia.
This is interesting! What is your information?
your sincerely,
Cornelia
Hallo Denise,
Die Quelle der Daten sind Auskünfte der Kirchen aus den 40er Jahren.
Sie sind zuverlässig soweit ich das einschätzen kann. Die
Familie
war evangelisch. Der Name scheint passend, aber die Gegend nicht. Die
Maria
Sokolowski aus meinen Unterlagen kommt aus Ostpreussen während Golub
in
Westpreussen lag.
Cornelia
