Hello to all..........am new to the list and am wondering if anyone is searching the name STAUSS. My gggrandfather is FELIX STAUSS. born about 1826, I believe somewhere in the Hannover area and immigrated to the United States before 1856. He died in Illinois in 1875. Not much to go on here but I have nothing else prior to his marriage in Illinois.

You'll laugh at this, but I spent a lot of time looking for Strauss! I
never read carefully enough.
Have you looked at the actual marriage certificate? How about his wife
and children? Their names would help. Have you seen the records of the
children's births? All of those items may have a birthplace.
Is there a possiblity that Felix was not his actual first name?
