Staatsarchiv Osnabrück

I've already been to the Osnabrück Archives and worked with some of these
files.

Most of them are records of single persons or families who had asked for
permit of emigration, and most of these people did so.
Of course one or another person did not go because of different reasons,
others returned.
But I suppose that more than 95 % of the mentioned people became emigrants.

The ususal info is:
name, birthdate, family status, profession, last residence, destination
(mostly very general like America or Northern America), date and number of
permit.

Besides of this there must have been thousands of people who emigrated
without being listed in these records, just without permit.

So don't worry if your ancestor cannot be found in these records!
