Staatsarchiv Osnabrück

Hi Fred:

A short time back I obtained the 1852 census for Amt Hoya (part 3) from Jens
Muller-Koppe in Bremen. It included Anderten Amt Hoya, the town where my
Bosche ancestors came from.

I searched for these relatives in the Staatsarchive Osnabruck and only found
one (Marie Bosche) out of 7 in the family. I don't know why only one was
listed, unless the data covers a type of action (wedding, death, etc.) which
occurred to only that member of the family.

I also checked the names of other people who were living in Anderten during
1852 and found the same situation. However, I did note that for the ones
which were listed, they were listed "74 Hoya"

Since I don't read German, I cannot be specific about what pages I was
looking at.

The reason I mention Jens Muller-Koppe is that I believe giving credit to my
source, not necessarily advertising for him.

Oh-the Anderten I am referring to is not the one southeast of Hanover.

Hello Gale,
I'm not Fred, but were you searching on the OnlineFindbuch which is the
site about emigration from Germany? Were all 7 of the people you speak of
emigrants? If so, that is the same with my ancestors from the Hannover
area. I can't find them them. But one must conclude that if a person is not
listed, it means that they did not obtain permission to emigrate at
Osnabruck (or Hannover or Wolfbuttel), but somewhere else. Or they left
illegally.

Yes, I think we are all expecting the data to be pure emigrant data
but as I said in another post, I do not think that this is the case.
I would need proof of course but it seems that the people I've found
are in those records for reasons other then emigration. Until I
actually get to see the sources I dodn't know what exactly those
things are.

The reason I mention Jens Muller-Koppe is that I believe giving credit

There is no problem with mentioning professional researchers here for
good or bad results.

Hi Fred,
I think in the case of Osnabruck there is a definite connection to
emigration. When I used a online translator that whole section under
Vorwort, it definitely refers to emigration. I know you can read and write
German, as do many others on the list, so I don't want to offend anyone
with the rough translation -- but it definitely refers to emigration
records.
I'll be glad to send that translation privately to anyone who wants to
read it.
Barbara

Yes, we were told in the beginning that it was a list of people who applied
for or received emigration permits.

Oh yes it does. What I said yesterday was that there seems to be a
disconnect between what they describe and what's actually out there.
I'm 2/3 done with the translation and will offer it here. I just need
to see where my people fit into this description as none of them ever
left the Osnabrück area - yet are listed in various towns as they
moved around.
