St. Sebastianus-Schuetzenbruderschaft

Hallo !

Can somebody help me to understand what the "
St.-Sebastianus-Sch�tzenbruderschaft " is ?
My ancestor Leonard BIENEFELD belong to that " association " in 1808, in
Grefrath. I found recently some webpages that mention the name BIENEFELD
in the same " sch�tzenbruderschaft ", on 2002.
It looks like a tradition, don't you think ?
