A friend is traveling to Germany, and willing to look some things up for me.
My great-grandfather, Karl August G. M. GLAEVCKE, was christened in St.
Marien church in NEUBRANDENBURG. His mother's family, the BITTERS, were also in
Neubrandenburg, and I would assume attended the same church. I have tried
looking up the address on-line, but don't know enough German to make sense of the
phone book, especially the yellow pages. Would anyone know if this church
still exists, and what the address is in Neubrandenburg, so my friend could visit,
take pictures, and try to get additional information?
the St. Marien church of Neubrandenburg was destroied in WW II. and rebuild
since ~1975. Some mounths ago it was opened as famous hall of concerts.
Please have a look at www.konzertkirche.de.
Do you have more details or dates about your anchestors, also when your
ggfather left Mecklenburg? Any Neubrandenburg churchbooks older then ~1900
you'll find at the Landeskirchliche Archiv Schwerin, not at Neubrandenburg.
