Desperately seek information on Simon WEBER and wife Gertrud
SCHMIDT/SCHMITZ.
They came to Wisconsin in 1854, leaving behind young son Josef b. 1851 with
grandparents. More children were born after they arrived and Joseph
supposedly came here in the mid-1860s.
I have not been able to find an U.S. documents that tell me where they came
from and have been looking for them for years and years on passenger lists
to no avail.
Any help appreciated,

Hello Robin, My Great Grandfather Joseph Schmitt also immigrated to
Wisconsin from Germany, He came to Sheboygan Falls and later to Sheboygan.
I found his place of Birth and parents names in the church records,
especially Marriage record had good info. I don't know where you're from in
Wis. but maybe you would be lucky with Church records also. Lola
Hi Lola. I've been all over the church records, the immigration documents,
the obituaries, etc. I thought that even though I struck out with Simon, I
might find something from Joseph. Although he joined the family in SW
Wisconsin as a teenager, he moved to Chicago as a young man and married
there. Struck out on those church records, too. Everything just says
PRUSSIA! After Joseph's wife died, he retired to Ottawa Co. MI. Again,
nothing in his church/burial records there. He had one son who had no
children, so the line died there.
