Searching for my family

Hello,

I found this email on the internet. I was hoping perhaps you can guide me in my search for my relatives. My grandfather Willibald Helbig was born in Röhrsdorf, Niederschlesien, on October 23rd 1909. In 1939 he married Emma Hoffman, born in Liebentahl on the 23rd of August 1917. They had four sons; William, Erich, Georg and Fritz. Do you know where I can search for more information about Willibald and Emmas parents and family?

Best regards

/Joakim

Hello Joakim,

we have a wide database with several ressources to find our relatives. It‘s

http://wiki-en.genealogy.net/Main_Page

The main menue I use are the menues at the top.
Within the yellow stripe you‘ll find „neta search“. There i first tried the name helbig with röhrsdorf - with no results.

Our database is not very good in finding villages with old german names, wich are now polish names. So i also asked wikipedia.

There are lot of Röhrsdorf found in genealogy.net, but none of them is somewhere in niederschlesien. Same with Liebenthal.
Are there further Information within the passports? Sth like „Kreis“ (Krs.)?
Are the childs were also born in one of the villages? Where were they married etc?

The researchers of Bremen also have digitalized the passengerlist of those, who parted from Bremen. You‘ll find them here:

http://www.passagierlisten.de/

I just realized: you‘re not living in „America“? So these passangerlists are less usefull (or maybe not )

So, lots of greetings, where ever you are
