Searching for DORSTEN, GRIESHOP and GOSSMANN Families

Fr. David,

Thank you for the information. This fills in a lot of holes. Perhaps there will be more detail from the list on the families prior to immigration.

The first record I have found for Johann Heinrich Dorsten and family is from the 1850 Census and they are living in New Albany, IN (near Louisville). This surprised me because I thought they had lived in Cincinnati before arriving in Minster. I will send you the results I have from my online searches for these families (including Menzinsky).

Ted,

My server was down all day.
I was not aware that the Dorstens had lived in Indiana. I always
though that they had lived at Minster. Johann Heinrich Dorsten also had a brother
Johann August who lived at Minster. He came in 1834. Johann Heinrich and
his family are on the 1836 parish list for Minster

Hi, in the attached mail I stumbled across the name LEISTENSCHNEIDER, her place of birth is probably Saarlouis, a town in the region which today belongs to the Saarland and not to the Palatinate, which is the Pfalz in German. If you want to investigate into this direction, the Saar-Liste (saarland-l@genealogy.net) may be of help. Regards, Anne (Cullmann)
