I'm researching my husband's kin.
My husband's grandfather says on his Illinois marriage license that he was born in Schwei, Oldenburg, Germany. I found a map that shows a Schwei on the East side of the Jadebusen Bay. Could this be his birthplace, Schwei?
And does anyone have information relating to this man &/or his parents:
Heinrich August Wessels born 1 March 1863 in Schwei, Oldenburg, Germany
son of
Wessel Janssen Wessels and
Anna Christine Harmjans
He and a sister named Marie or Mary born about 1864 came to the USA around 1900. They had a sister who drowned in a well accident in Germany when they were young.
He married in Germany but his first wife died there. He married Albertine Eurma Stegmann born 1875 in Rosenfelde, West Prussia, Germany. They married in 1906 in Peoria, Illinois
