Thanks for the confirmation as to Balge. Would you know if LDS has
Parish records for Balge? I can never locate any. I would need records

No, I don't think the LDS have any records for Balge. It appears that
there is/was a church there. However, the German phone book shows both
Schmidts and Schumachers in Balge today. Was Johann Joachim married when he
came over? If he was born in Mecklenberg, why would you be interested in
Sophie's birthplace, since she is the first wife??
