I am trying to find the place of birth for our g g grandfather.

His name was Claus Heinrich Schuhmacher and he was born 23 November 1823 in Hanover. His fathers name was Johann (John). Can anyone direct me to where I strat to look?

Lyn Thornton,

I think you will have to somehow find the place of birth of your Claus
Schuhmacher to have much chance of finding him and as someone said the name
is likely to be spelled Schumacher. I have Schumacher's in my ancestry and
one is a Claus Hinrich b. 1805 in Sottrum, but the Schumacher name is fairly
common in Hannover and you will need a village name to narrow it down.

adult.
