School lesson 1849

Greetings;
I recieved a wonderful note today from a distant cousin in Osnabrck. The
note may be of interest to others researching the time period 1850's in the
Hannover / Westfalia area.

The note states:
"As you may know, Hustaedte (just noth of Melle) had a small school since
the 1700's.
A lady from Nebraska (USA) has an ancestor who was school master in that
village (she has also Masch ancestors, all from Hustaedte).
The document is a lesson time table from 1849. That's the year when a lot of
our ancestors went to school there (your forefather Ernst Buescher was 10).
There were about 60 pupils all in one big room, divided into groups of grade
1 to 4."

The document scan he sent me has the week divided into hours and days. I
am sure that my cousin will send me an translation, but for now I can see
that they went to school from 9am until 3 pm Mon - Fri. (except Wed) with
one hour off for lunch. The lesson had the same topic (ie.,reading) on
Monday + Thursday and Tuesday + Friday. Wednesday was a half day in the
mornings with different topics from the other four days. When I get
specifics I will send them.

This one page scan gives me a snapshot of my great grandfather Ernst
Heirich Bscher's daily life in Hustaedte in 1849.

Hallo,
in my line I have also a schoolmaster in Bücken, time range 1795-1850. If there are facts on
schools at that time I would appreciate any information.
Thank you
Felizitas

Hi Lee! I read with interest your posting of the school day. My
gggrandfather,
Ernest Heinrich Brinkmeyer, was born in Buer in 1810. I was fortunate to visit
Buer in June, 2000.
I would appreciate receiving a copy of note. If it is in German I can get it
translated.
Thanks, Augie Braun, Steeleville, IL
