Cactus Flower,
I don't know what case you are refering to. In what instance does the US imprison and torture a citizen without trial? I haven't heard of that one. If they find someone living in the US who is sending money to terrorists and plotting against US citizens then that person should be picked up and given a trial. That would happen in any country.
I live in the US and to me it seems that everything is about saying what is popular to get elected. This is what politicians are all about. Every day on the news we constantly hear about what right illegal aliens have......and they are refered to as immigrants. They have the right to come here without any inspection and without permission and then they act as if to question their right to stay is racist. That doesn't make sense. We are a country of immigrants but the great masses of immigrants came here legally. If someone didn't pass inspection they could not enter the country.
My husband immigrated to the US from South America legally over 20 years ago, and he and many others like him think it's unfair that some get to cross the border on foot and don't have to petition to immigrate legally and they don't have to pass through tests and scrutiny and follow rules that would make them known to the government.
Then we hear that we in the US need this cheap labor force. What they don't realize is that if they also give them blanket amnesity and citizenship they will then no longer work as cheap. They will get at least minimun wage and then the produce industry will be back to looking for new illegals to work cheap. It' s crazy. I think we should just accept paying higher food prices. It's not as if Americans are lacking in food, there is more obesity here than any where else. Meanwhile there are able bodied Americans who won't work for low wages and will sit around playing computer games and live off of mom and dad.
