Heute habe ich einen Nachruf ( Obituary ) von einer Familie
Schellenberger aus Sebringville, was ausserhalb von Stratford Ontario
Canada liegt, erhalten. Der Nachruf ist vom 1 M�rz 1899 und wurde in der
genealogischen Ver�ffentlichung von Perth County Profiles
ver�ffentlicht. Volume 19, No 3, August 2001 Es handelt sich um einen
Michael Schellenberg geboren am 19 Dezember 1820 in Freigensfelt, (
Freienfeld ?) Bayern und seiner Frau Magdalene Lehmann geboren am 5
Juny 1821 in Nieder Roehden, Elsass.
Seiner Beschreibung nach k�nnte er ein Ostpreusse sein der an einer
Versammlung in L�neburg teilgenommen hatte. Es heisst und es ist zum
Teil in alter englischen Schreibweise:
A sad feeling pervaded the German settlement at Fullerton last week
when it became know that two of the oldest settlers of the 3rd
concession, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Schllenberger, who had shared joys and
sorrows for more than 54 years, died within a few hours of each other.
Although well advanced in years, both enjoyed their usual health until
the 9th last, when Mr. Schellenberger, over-rating his strength and
powers of endurance, walked from his farm to the Lutheran church and
back again, a distance of nearly six miles to attend the funeral of
the late George Gerling. The Day was the coldest of the season, and the
old man had both ears severely frozen and was so chilled and exhausted
when he reached home that he took to his bed and died on the 22nd.
Magdalene starb am 20 Februar, 1899
