Hi Jane:
I just visited your website and was impressed. Next week I will order books 1 and 11. My paternal grandparents, Heimsoth and Renken came from Verden and Ostersode, and maternal grandfather from Welsede. Our area was settled in the 1840s by German Lutherans, who came primarily from the area between Bremen, Bremervoerde and Hamburg. Just east of us (Cole Camp, Mo. Benton County) in Morgan County, those immigrants were from the Hameln, Bad Pyrmont area.
Some of us still speak Plattdeutsch and each year we produce a two hour theater performance done entirely in Platt.
Every two years there is a Low German conference held somewhere in the Mid-west. I think your books would sell very well if you could arrange to be there. These conferences are attended and sponsored by members of the American Schleswig-Holstein Society of Davenport, Iowa, the large Mecklenburg-Pommeranian group from Wasau, Wisconsin and our own Plattduetscher Vereen here in Cole Camp.
The next conference will be in Walcott, Iowa sometime in October.
If you need more information, please let me know.
Best wishes,
Neil Heimsoth
p.s. Bob Stockman of Aldo, Michigan is a friend and has written a wonderful Low German dictionary. His roots are in Visselhoevede.

Hello Yvonne,
Have you ever used the LDS microfilm on Osterode? They have several
items available. If you are near an LDS center, you could order and view
them there.
