May I also suggest the Anglo German Family History Society in England.
The web site is: www.agfhs.org.uk . They publish a magazine every two months and have regular meetings (usually in London) and have a wealth of booklets and other media which can offer guidance as to where to search for your family. Also, they do invite queries and encourage members to contact each other to help their research.
