I am not sure if this is the right place, or if it works, but I try. I am sorry I write English only.
I am searching for an ancestor called Joseph Gothard Meyer. He was born about 1763 in Eisenach, Sachsen, and came to Norway in the1780s. He came to Bergen serving in a Husar Regiment. Some questions why he left the army, but he came to the town Moss in Østfold, got married, and had three children, but only one living daughter. She had many children.
He was in prison for some reason, got tuberculosis and died right before he was to be free, in 1805.
We are some descendants trying to find out where he came from and so on. Quite a lot still use the name Meyer. We are not sure about the place, it also says Mecklenburg in some records. Is that an area?
I would be very happy if someone could help, or just give us some information.
