Guten Tag.
I am searching for the family of ROMFELD, documented in both Swedish and German/Belgian sources, but not enough, I am sorry to say. The Romfelds once were a wealthy merchant- and patrician family who had an office in Danzig or somewhere else in the sourrounding area. Identified is already HANS ROMFELD, son of this particular family 1570-1571. The Romfelds were without doubt trading with the Netherlands and Belgum (f.ex. with Antwerp) and may have been members of the Hanseatic League.
A sister of Hans Romfeld, (first name unknown) married a Danish-Norwegian nobleman, Enno Christoffersen Trondsson (alias Enoch von der Branderoch) in the early summer of 1570 in Danzig. One would suppose that such a prominent family could possibly not have disappeared completely from the available sources, leaving absolutely no trace at all.
I have already checked 1) FamilySearch, found one single ROMFELD of Hannover and Hessen-Nassau, Prussia, dating as late (but nevertheless, too late) as from the 17th century 2) Councillors of the Right Main City og Gdansk (Prominent citizens of Danzig) 1342-1818, 3) Councillors of the old city of Gdansk 1433-1492 and finally 4) Royal Burgraves of the city of Gdansk, but no ROMFELD has shown up until now.
Any hint would be much appreciated.
Mit vielen freundlichen Grüssen aus Norwegen.
