Roehrdanz / holtz

Hans Peter Albers,

Thank you for sending me the information on Roehrdanz but I must confess I do not know how to make use of it. I am anxious to find out more about the Roehrdanz family since that was the maiden name of my great great grandmother.

Regards,

Phyllis Holtz Smith

Phylliy Smith,

the possible use you can take from the spread of the names is, to see where
nowadays people of your name live. As mobility here isn't the same as for example
in the USA, especially in the past 3 hundred years, one may assume that remaining
family members had descendants at the same place. So if your are looking for the
place of your anchestors, you have better chances that is one with a bearer of
your name than one without. If there are colonies of that name in a special
region, it would make sense to concentrate on this region with your search.

The other possible use is, getting in direct contact with bearers of your name
and try to find out, if there are already results of earlier research in the
family. That might shorten the research in point of time and money sometimes
dicisively. For this way, which is not always successful, are given all possibili-
ties of doing a call - best way by someone German speaking in assistance - or
writing a letter. Going only by the Internet and already available dates there,
you will get only these already given in dates. So if family-research was done
before the computer-time or by other reasons is not public or simply in small
number of prints made, there are borders, which might be broken down this
research way.

Greetings Hans Peter Albers

Dear Phyllis,
Roehrdanz and Holtz are both in Hohenzieritz i think?? - i have to take a
second look on the films of Hohenzieritz next week.
. I thought about Rhrdanz-name, because this had been friends of my
parents in my childhood. The HOLTZ - familyname i looked for because there
is a second family HOTH similar written like Holtz (Warlin and Hohenzieritz)
. Hoth-Doss are also emigrants to the USA.
Please tell me the names and dates you search.
