I am researching the following persons.

NAMES, BIRTH DATES, BIRTH PLACES OF BUEHRINGS

To best of my knowledge, all spelled surname Bühring when emigrated. I have used Buehring throughout this writing.

Most of my information came from Trinity Lutheran Church, Black Jack Springs, Texas, records which are in museum in Serbin, Texas. Trinity Lutheran Church does not exist as it merged with two other Lutheran churches.

All given names found are listed. Some individuals may have had more given names. Also, some individuals may have fewer given names on birth certificates as names may have been added later such as at baptism.

(1) Heinrich Fritz Buehring. 1813?-1879. Born in Germany. Fritz is probably nickname for Friedrich. He is husband of Christiana (2). Christiana, 44, (Christine on ship list) departed port of Bremen on SS Frankfurt and arrived in New Orleans November 15, 1870 with children Heinrich, 14, and Friederike, 18. A Jurgen, 57, is listed above Christiana on ship list. Listing above Christiana leads to speculation that they are husband and wife. Age difference, 13, is common. Birth year, 1813, above is calculated (1870-57). It is my understanding that German siblings often had at least one common given name and that a sibling often used the given name nearest the surname. Since there were several Jurgen Buehrings living at that time, it is possible that, if indeed this person was named something like Jurgen Heinrich Friedrich Buehring, he may have decided not to use the name Jurgen.

(2) Christiana Buehring. 4/26/1826-8/6/1882. Born Germany. At age 44, departed port of Bremen on SS Frankfort and arrived in New Orleans November 15, 1870. Wife of Heinrich Fritz Buehring (1).

(3) Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm "Fritz" Buehring. 8/20/1850-11/2/1943. Born Hohne, Hannover. At age 14, departed port of Bremen on SS Frankfurt and arrived in New Orleans November 15, 1870. Son of Heinrich Fritz (1) and Christiana (2). Husband of Marie Louise Klat Krause (4).

(4) Marie, Mary?, Maria? Louise Buehring. 12/15/1853-10/22/1933. Born Herz. (Herzberg? Or?) Lauenberg. Some descendants believe she was born in Lauenberg Kiel. Adopted. Maiden names Klat and Krause - one is birth name - other is adoptive parents' surname - do not know which is birth and which is adopted. Wife of Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm "Fritz" Buehring (3).

(5) Friedericke (Friederike) Marie Hunger, born Buehring. 1852-?. Born Hohne, Hannover. At age 18, departed port of Bremen on SS Frankfurt and arrived in New Orleans November 15, 1870. Daughter of Heinrich Fritz (1) and Christiana (2).Wife of Ernst Louis Hunger (6).

(6) Ernst Louis Hunger. 1856-1900. Born Lengefeld? Leugefeld, Sachsen. Husband of Friedericke Marie Buehring Hunger (5).

(7) Jurgen (Juergen?) Heinrich Buehring. 2/11/1856-9/13/1889. Born Pollhofen, Hannover. Son of Heinrich Fritz (1) and Christiana (2). Husband of Sophie Henrietta Buehring - born Buehring (8). He was a "distant' cousin of his wife.

(8) Sophie Sophia? Henrietta Buehring, born Buehring. 3/5/1862-4/18/1965. Born Hannover. Daughter of Heinrich Wilhelm Buehring (9) and Johanna M. El.? Buehring, born Klemme or Klimme (10). Sister of Johanna Friedericke Dorothea Buehring (11), Dorothea Marie Buehring (12), and Emma Buehring (13). Wife of Jurgen Heinrich (7). She was a "distant' cousin of her husband.

(9) Heinrich Wilhelm Buehring. Born Pollhofen, Hannover. Birthdates of daughters indicate he was probably born early 1840s or earlier. Father of Sophie (8), Johanna (11), Dorothea (12), and Emma (13). Husband of Johanna M. El. Klemme or Klimme Buehring (10).

(10) Johanna M. El.? Buehring born Klemme or Klimme. Birthdates of daughters indicate she was probably born early 1840s or earlier. Mother of Sophie (8), Johanna (11), Dorothea (12), and Emma (13). Wife of Heinrich Wilhelm Buehring (9).

(11) Johanna Friedericke Dorothea Buehring. Born Pollhofen, Hannover. Sister of Sophie (8), Dorothea (12), and Emma (13). Daughter of Heinrich Wilhelm (9) and Johanna M. El. (10).

(12) Dorothea Marie Buehring. Born aus Timmers?, Ummers?, Ummern?, Hannover. Sister of Sophie (8), Johanna (11), and Emma (13). Daughter of Heinrich Wilhelm (9), and Johanna M. El. (10).

(13) Emma Buehring. 8/18/1863-5/20/1947. Born Hannover. Sister of Sophie (8), Johanna (11), and Dorothea (12). Daughter of Heinrich Wilhelm (9) and Johanna M, El. (1). Wife of Henry Koether (16). Born 1/26/1854 in Hannover.

(14) Jurgen Heinrich Buehring. 12/24/1848-8/21/1928. Born Pollhofen, Hannover. Aus Pollhofen aus Celle, Hannover. A Jurg. Buehring, age 24, departed port of Bremen on the SS Frankfurt and arrived in New Orleans November 15, 1870 - this is the same ship and arrival date as persons (1), (2), (3), and (5) above. There is a 2 year difference in ages. It is possible that the age 24 on the ship list is in error. In his Intent to Naturalize, July 5, 1887, J. Buehring, then age 38, states that on or about October 19, 1870 he departed from the port of Bremen and arrived in New Orleans on or about November 20, 1870. The Jurgen born 12/24/1848 would have then been age 38. Furthermore, the recollection of the J. Buehring making the Intent to Naturalize is only differs 5 days from the November 15, 1870 arrival date of Jurg. Buehring. Jurgen Heinrich Buehring was husband of Anna Marie Buehring (15), born
Hunger.

It is possible that Jurgen Heinrich was son of Heinrich Fritz (1) and Christiana (3). It is almost a certainty that he was a close relation as Marie (4) was present, probably Godparent, at Baptism of Jurgen Heinrich's daughter and his wife, Anna, was present, probably Godparent, at Baptism of daughter of Heinrich (3) and Marie (4);

(15) Anna Marie Buehring, born Hunger. 5/31/1854-12/7/1941. Wife of Jurgen Heinrich Buehring (14).

(16) Henry Koether. Born 1/26/1854 in Hannover. Husband of Emma Buehring (13).

Hello Alton,

       You have written a lot of information that should yield some response
from somebody out there. I have hunted around a bit and will give you what
I have thus far. No big discoveries, but maybe some information that may be
helpful for you.

       The towns of Hohne, Pollhofen, Ummern are all located east of the
larger city of Celle. They look to be small villages and are very near to
each other. My map shows a church in Hohne, which was there when your
ancestors lived there. I found the website for the church, but it won't work
for me tonight. www.kirche-hohne.de/ Sad to say, none of these towns are
listed in the LDS records.

      By doing a LDS search for Buehring (with correct spelling only) there
are some Buehrings listed in some other towns in the area: Wathlingen
(southeast of Celle, a larger town than the towns you mentioned), also
Garssen and Gross Hehlen north of Celle. There are LDS church records for
Gross Hehlen. The LDS does not have records for the others listed here.

     For what it's worth, if you do a search on www.gencircles.com for
Buehring, you will find some children of Heinrich Wilhelm Buehring and
Johanna Klimme. The person who placed the information is Doug Thielemann.
If you click on that name, you will get his email address. I suspect that
you have more information than he does, so it may not be all that helpful.

    In the German telephone book (http://www.telefonbuch.de/) there is a
listing for a Jürgen Buehring in Hohne and there are 5 other Büehring
listings in that general vicinity. You can be bold and call or write them!

Thank you Barbara,

I had emailed Mr. Thielemann. He did not respond. You are probably right in
that I probably have more information than he does. That is probably the
reason he did not respond.

      A search on Google came up with this:

      Go to Index and you will see Buehring. I did the search for Buehring
Ummern and came up with this. However, it doesn't show the town name in his
lists. There's a website address on the Home page.
