Hello Isabelle,
I was interested to read in the Niederschlesien List of your search for families from Schlesien with the name of SCHUBERT.
I do not speak German, so I must hope that you can understand my message.
I have a great-great-great-great-grandfather, Carl Gottlieb SCHUBERT (1730-1808), who was born (geboren?) in 1730 in Graebel (now Grabla) near Bolkenhain (now Bolkow) in the Principality of Silesia-Schweidnitz. I am searching for records of his baptism, of his siblings and of his parents' marriage. I know that Carl Gottlieb SCHUBERT went to Hannover, and that he married there in a Lutheran Church in 1764 and again in 1767. He and his second wife, Engel Sophie nee Lucke (1746-?) of Hildesheim, went to Braunschweig and raised a large family there. One of their sons was Gottlieb Anton Philip SCHUBERT(1777-1848), who was born in Braunschweig in 1777, and who went to Bristol in England. Another son was Otto SCHUBERT, born in Braunschweig in 1776. One of Gottlieb's grandsons, Robert SCHUBERT(1838-1920), came to Australia, and was my great-grandfather.
Please let me know if your SCHUBERT family in Schlesien has any connection to mine. To help with an understanding of my SCHUBERT family, I shall paste below a short outline of the descendants of Carl Gottlieb SCHUBERT.
With kind regards,
John Schubert
