Researching LEO +von LEO of Berlin + Konigsberg Ost Preussen

Greeting to the forum
Im researching two pair of LEO brothers

Karl Otto Julius Bogislaw von LEO 1793-1865 born Konigsberg and
Johann Hermann Franz Kasmire von LEO
both Generals...
Their Father Gottlieb Ephrain LEO believed to be a judge [Justizrat]
Konigsberg

Alexander Franz Napoleon von LEO b.1805-1861 Lieutenant Colonel Reg 29 Teacher at Military School Berlin
Friedrich Johann Ludwig von LEO b.1800-2 d.1870 St Wendel Premier Lieutenant Reg 29 Saarlouis
Their Father
Major and Brigadier of the Gendarmerie [Police] in Lithuania

All lost nobility in 1835, continued with the Military and were all well decorated for their Bravery so with retirement went on to collect pensions
I believe these two Families are connected from Konigsberg
I am especially interested in the teacher at the Military school Berlin and his Family,as I fully suspect my relation came from him
I would appreciate any information or tip to find more information on these Families Please
Thankyou in Advance
Kind Regards Rick Cragg

Hi Rick,

I research on the family name "Lewon" in Lithuania. "Lewon" is a notation of
"Leo". The family "Lewon" from 1530 is part of the Polish nobility coats of
arms family "Gozdawa" = lily. In the 16th and 17 Century-clad members of the
Lewon family high office in the Lithuanian justice. Nordic War of 1665 was
the Lewon family on the losing side, the Swedes and the Lithuanian nobility
reformed to Radziwill. Maybe some Lewon succeeded in Sweden and Prussia to
survive.

Hi there Carston, and greetings from Australia.
Apoligies for the delay,You have very much "surprised" me with this new name of Lewon......Thankyou......

Do you have a Family tree about the time of 1800-1830 with the names Carl[Karl]August Amalia and Johanne ??
How does Lowen, not to be confused with Loewen become Leo??

Hi Rick,

during my research in the area of Poland, Lithuania, Belarus and Eastern Prussia, I have found that writing was one and the same family still changeable until the 19th century. The reasons for this was the origin of the writing skills and church officials, the local language, and social goals of the family. My present name is Iwan. In 1846, this nickname from the name of my family. To 1846 was my name Lewon, Lewoni, Lewanow or Lewoniow. I have found the name Lewon leave in the development of Leon, Leonov, Leonovich, Levon, Lewoni, Lewonow, Lewonowitsch,Lewonowski, Levan, Lewanow, Lewanowitsch,Lewanowski, Lewoniewski and so on. Lew and all these names are attributed to = Leo the Lion. Also, the use of the letter w in Lewon also joined the v, w because it is not the letters in the Lithuanian and Polish there is not the letter v. If your family has actually been a de Branch Levon, so this is likely to have originated around 1650, when some people in the Lewon family fled to Prussia and Sweden. Very helpful can be a DNA analysis. I already have 5 of Lewon male DNA analysis.
In my own family, Lewon, who lived in Silesia from 1800 it is also the name Carl. From 1865 onwards, I have found the first members of my family who have emigrated to the United States. Due to the poor availability of church records I do not know all the family members. In other family trees Lewon I did not find the name you are looking for.

With best regards from Leipzig

Thankyou everybody....
The only information we have is my GGGrandfather called himself
Charles Augustus Leopold Leo von Fritzow,Treptow,Pomerania born 1824 we do not know his Parents name except that he was an Officer in the Military and at some time taught cadets at a Military school...The Mother owned a house and land Charles had an older brother August and two Sisters Amalia and Johanne probably all born 1820-30
in New Zealand 1865 he named his children Charles and Emille, Augustus and Fredrich Herman
Charles said he came from a noble Family so put the V for von onto Leo to make LEOV as it is today....After many years of looking I do not trust Fritzow,Treptow and Pomerania anymore as he just cannot be found there.
Kind Regards Rick

On the link: Online Familiendatenbank Fritzow (Kreis Cammin in Pommern) You have e very good map of Fritzow
and on the link: Familiendatenbank Fritzow (Kreis Cammin in Pommern) You have all names of the last period.

Fritzow would be owned by the Family von Puttkamer (Verband des Geschlechtes v.Puttkamer e.V.)
