I feel I'm on the right list at this point in time. It is something of a
comfort to find correspondence in German....which I can manage to
translate. My odyssey of more than 20 years has finally led me to this list.
Please bear with me.
The first records I found of my proud Prussian grandparents was in Plock,
Poland, where marriages, births, and deaths occurred. The first connection to
Prussia was the birth of my paternal grandmother BERTHA SCHNEIDER in an area
translated as "Ruden, near Thorun, Prussia." in 1862. Her brother, JOHAN
AUGUST SCHNEIDER, was born and died in Schulitz in 1860.
Another brother, ARNOLD ALBERT SCHNEIDER, was born in Schulitz c. 1861, died
in Agnieskowo, Poland, 1881
Sister, IDA AUGUSTA SCHNEIDER was born c. 1864 in Schulitz. She was married
in 1885 in Plock, Poland.
The parents of these children were AUGUST HENRYK SCHNEIDER, and HENRIETTA
DUVE
Here are my questions. Thorun was Prussia, I now believe it is Poland. Where
do I write for records?
My "Prussian" roots obviously drifted into Poland. I somehow feel like a
woman without a country. Can anyone help?

and key in Thorn, Westpreussen (pre-Versailles)
there's also a section on Torun, Poland (post 1945 and post Versailles)
Torn used to to be a fortress city of the Teutonic Knights.

This must bei Rauden which was in West Prussia.
However, Schulitz was not, and you may want to subscribe to the
Posen list,too.
